Injectables & Fillers

Cosmetic injectables are a nonsurgical treatment used to reduce wrinkles and lines, add volume, lift sagging skin, reduce neck fat, and now treat cellulite. Injectable dermal fillers can give you a more youthful look by filling in hollows, lines, and wrinkles with results that can last months to years. Other treatments, such as Botox®, relax the muscle under the wrinkle to reduce the appearance of existing wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. When treating cellulite, an enzyme injection is used to dissolve the fibrous bands that contribute to the appearance of dimpling. To reduce neck fat an injectable is used that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, it destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin.

What are the different types of injectables?

Injectables such as neurotoxins and fillers are used to make your skin look younger and smoother. However, they each treat different concerns and have unique sets of benefits.

If you’re not sure which type of injectable is right for you, Dr. Weinstein Velez will provide a consultation to understand your goals and recommend the most appropriate treatment. At UR Medicine Dermatology, we offer the full spectrum of injectables and fillers to provide you customized, subtle results.

Neurotoxin injectables, such as Botox, are mostly used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by frowning, squinting and smiling, such as:

  • Frown lines
  • Wrinkles around the eyes, such as crow’s feet
  • Forehead creases
  • Furrows between brows
  • Neck wrinkles

Fillers can be used to achieve different goals, such as:

  • Plump lips
  • Lift and enhance cheeks
  • Add volume in the tear trough (dark circles under eyes)
  • Soften nasolabial folds (smile lines)
  • Smooth vertical lip lines, marionette lines, and chin wrinkles
  • More youthful looking hands and chest

Kybella® injectable can be used to reduce fat under the chin. It is only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells in the treatment area under the chin.

The uses of injectables and fillers go beyond facial needs. UR Medicine cosmetics expert, Dr. Mara Weinstein Velez, is one of the few cosmetic dermatologists in the area who uses injectables to treat wrinkles and sagging skin in chest, neck, hands, and buttocks.
