The Culture and Suicide Prevention (CSP) Lab
Welcome to the CSP Lab
The Culture and Suicide Prevention (CSP) Lab studies how cultural determinants of health influence suicide risk and resilience.
Culture represents systems of knowledge, concepts, rules and practices that are learned and transmitted across generations, and which individuals use to fashion their own identities, values, and make sense of experience. Cultures are often open, dynamic systems that can be shaped by language, religion/spirituality, family structures, life-cycle stages, ceremonial rituals, and customs, as well as moral and legal systems.
Members of the CSP Lab study how we can optimize suicide prevention interventions by targeting cultural determinants of health, especially for geographically and linguistically isolated populations. In particular, we focus on testing interventions to promote cultural-social engagement and well-being. We are thrilled that you are interested in our work and invite you to contact us if you are interested in joining our team.
