Miner Library offers printing, photocopying, and scanning services available to all library users.

You can print from a library computer, your laptop, or your mobile device.

Print Stations

All print stations in Miner Library print black and white and color prints. Three print stations are available at the library:

  • Computing Center printer
  • Front area printer near the Answer Desk
  • Photocopier/Printer near the Answer Desk

Photocopying

A public photocopier is located near the Answer Desk.

Print & Photocopy Rates

Black and White Prints/Copies

Single-sided  - $.10 each
Double-sided  - $.18 each

Color Prints/Copies:

Single-sided - $.25 each
Double-sided - $.48 each

How to Pay for Prints & Photocopies

University of Rochester Faculty, Staff & Students

Use Funds Connected to your URochester ID

  • Add funds to a Transact account connected to your URochester ID at eAccounts. University employees who do not have an account can create an account.
  • Minimum deposit is $25. Payment must be made by credit or debit card. 

Use a Preloaded $5 Rocky Bucks Card

  • Available for purchase at the Miner Library Answer Desk (cash only). Also available at Rush Rhees Library (credit only), Carlson Library (credit only), and  Sibley Music Library (cash only). 
  • Preloaded cards cannot be reloaded. Once the funds on the card are depleted, you would need to purchase a new card. However, you may purchase several $5 cards at the same time if you anticipate your printing/copying costs will exceed $5.

Use a Reloadable Rocky Bucks Card

  • Available for purchase at a Transact kiosk using cash, credit or debit card
  • There is a $1 card fee and a minimum deposit is $25
  • Kiosk locations:
    • First floor of Susan B. Anthony Hall, across from the ID Office
    • Wilson Commons, across from Starbucks
    • Barnes & Noble, at College Town

Use a Visitor Print & Copy Business Type Card

  • Available in $1 and $5 denominations at select service desks. These cards are not sold at the Miner Library; however, they can be used for printing from library computers and for photocopying at Miner Library.
  • These cards can only by used for printing from library computers and cannot be used for printing from personal devices.
  • Funds on the cards are restricted to printing and copying services only.

SMD Medical Student Print Funds

  • Accounts are automatically activated for incoming medical students, and a balance is added each semester. 
  • These funds are separate from Rocky Bucks. They can only be used for printing, whereas Rocky Bucks can be redeemed for other services in addition to printing. 

Visitors

Visitors may purchase a preloaded $5 Rocky Bucks card or use a Print/Copy business type card.

Patients and Patient Families

Additional printing options are available to patients and their families. Please ask the Miner Library Answer Desk staff for more information.

Scanning

Scanning is free. Two scanning options are available:

Scan Using the Public Photocopier

  • Scan directly to your email
  • Best for multi-page or double-sided documents that do not require editing
  • Documents are sent as PDFs and typically delivered quickly
  • Scanning is free; however, a University ID or Rocky Bucks card is required to access the device. Scan your card, select access device, select scanning. If you do not have an eligible card, ask for assistance at the Answer Desk.
  • Instructions are posted at the copier

Scan Using the Flatbed Scanner

  • Located in the Computing Center
  • Best for low-volume scanning that requires editing
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional, Photoshop, and InDesign are available on the scanning workstation
