Dr. Nanda Kerkar has been involved in several multi-center studies funded by the NIDDK, FDA and pharmaceutical companies. She works toward involvement in research studies so that her patients can have access to diagnostic tests and therapies earlier with the hopes of improving outcomes. Her research interests include autoimmune liver disease, cholestatic liver diseases including biliary atresia, alagille syndrome, sclerosing cholangitis as well as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Before joining us Dr. Kerkar was the Medical director of the Pediatric Transplant Programs at Mount Sinai in New York and at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. She is building a multidisciplinary liver transplant service in collaboration with the adult transplant service and with her colleagues in Pediatrics, so that children and adolescents who need liver transplants can get them locally.
