Older Adult Mental Health Services

Make Appointments & Get Care

What are Older Adult Services?

UR Medicine’s Older Adult Services outpatient clinic works together with families and individuals to provide specialized mental health care for our community’s aging population, 65 years and older. To qualify for treatment, patients must have evidence of geriatric syndromes that complicate psychiatric illness including, but not limited to:

  • Issues related to grief and loss
  • Anxiety and/or depression
  • Age-related transitions

UR Medicine's Approach

At Older Adult Services, our multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, registered nurses, clinical social workers, and social work assistants conduct thorough assessments and provide an array of treatments. Our patients, their families, and caregivers will benefit from:

  • Short or long-term psychotherapy
  • Group therapy
  • Medication evaluation and management
  • Outpatient psychiatric medication consultation
  • Referrals to community agencies

We do not offer medication-only management services.  Patients must also be engaged with our psychotherapy services to receive medication management. Medication consultation is available for primary care physicians and community psychiatrists.

What Sets Us Apart?

Our highly experienced clinicians and board-certified Geriatric Psychiatrists are dedicated to serving older adults with mental health needs who often have complex medical syndromes. We are the only Mental Health & Wellness clinic dedicated to working with older adults in the Finger Lakes & Western New York State regions.
