Stop the Stress Spiral

Workplace stress and burnout rarely appear overnight. Many people assume feeling overwhelmed, tired, or irritable is “just part of the job” and will pass. But our minds and bodies are highly adaptable. This gradual process is known as the “stress spiral.” It happens when we begin to normalize early warning signs like fatigue, poor concentration, sleep issues, or emotional exhaustion. Instead of addressing them, we push through and unintentionally minimize their impact. Over time, this can affect your health, strain your relationships, and reduce your job performance. The key is early intervention. When you take action at the first signs of stress, solutions are often simpler and more effective. Small steps like setting boundaries, talking to someone, or adjusting workloads can prevent bigger challenges later.
