Addiction Medicine

All residents will spend 4 weeks rotating with CASA-Trinity to learn about addiction medicine. This is a critical need in many rural communities. CASA-Trinity is an organization that has served the rural community for over 50 years. Resident experiences include time with the comprehensive outpatient treatment program, the 27-bed inpatient facility (including medication-assisted detox/withdrawal), and the integrated Community Behavioral Health Clinic that integrates mental health and substance use disorder services through a comprehensive, patient-centered model of care. Residents will learn Medication for Opioid Use Disorder including both buprenorphine and methadone, as well as medications for alcohol use disorder and nicotine dependence.
