Wellbeing Assessment

The URMC Office of Wellbeing (OWB) is committed to helping faculty, staff, and learners achieve professional fulfillment; to work toward needed institutional changes; and to support wellness and wellbeing activities across URMC. To do so, we need valid data to inform our priorities and programming. Thus, the OWB is committed to ongoing measurement of employee well-being.

In 2018, we launched the Well Being Index, a 9-question survey developed by the Mayo Clinic that assesses burnout and emotional distress. It is an anonymous, validated survey tool that takes less than 5 minutes to complete and gives immediate, individualized feedback and resources.

The Office of Wellbeing will be offering department leadership, including wellbeing representatives, direct survey feedback on ratings they received from employees working in their departments and have invited departments to participate in a consultative session to identify opportunities for improvement action plans.

About the Assessment

The well-being index survey includes nine (9) total questions for the physician survey (clinical faculty), non-clinical faculty survey, APP survey, nurse survey, pharmacy professional survey. The resident/fellow version of the WBI has (7) total questions.
