Fellowship Research

Fellows choose from clinical, bench,
and translational research experiences.

Neonatology fellows are encouraged to pursue their research education with an experience in clinical research and laboratory-based research. Their individual focus, however, will depend on their research interests and career goals. The fellows will work in a rich research environment with many opportunities to develop their research talents. Neonatology faculty lead ongoing, multi-disciplinary research studies with investigators across the medical center and across the country. The faculty have trained many fellows in research and are skilled mentors. Their research programs are robust and generally funded by the NIH. Opportunities are available, within the division, across our department, and throughout URMC to work with M.D. and Ph.D. investigators who are national/international leaders in many areas. The Division of Neonatology has broad and significant strengths in clinical, basic, and educational research, which helps optimize our fellows' academic development.

Departmental and institutional support for fellowship research is available and includes educational support through the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and other training opportunities.

These scholarly activities result in presentations by the neonatal-perinatal fellows at national meetings and in published manuscripts.
