Remembering Daniel E. Gill

Gill portraitDaniel E. Gill, devoted family man and the former Chairman and CEO of Bausch and Lomb, died at the age of 81 on October 27, 2017. Dan is credited with transforming B&L from a $250 million ophthalmic company to nearly $2 billion internationally recognized leader in the field of health care and optics. Dan was deeply committed to Rochester and used his business leadership and expertise to support the city and many of its key civic organizations including the University of Rochester and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, to name just two.

While Dan was a corporate and civic leader, he was truly a family man whose real passion was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family. Dan leaves a legacy of dedication to family, a commitment to hard work, and an appreciation for a continuous sense of fun and adventure. The family requests that donations be given to the UR’s Institute for the Family (IFF), in recognition of the training provided by IFF for physicians and staff that results in a compassionate experience for patients at the end of life and their families.
