Crunched for Time? 5 Ways to Get More Minutes Back into Your Day

The one thing that everyone seems to have in common these days? A shortage of time. Whether you’re juggling work and family responsibilities or simply managing an overloaded schedule, a few simple hacks can build some minutes back into your day. Give these five a try.

  1. Batch cook. Once every week or two, batch cook extra-large portions of things like pasta sauce, chili, or soup and freeze them in family-sized portions. Thaw them on the stove and you have a fast, healthy meal.

  2. Slash your screen time. One of the simplest time-savers is to cut back on television. Be selective. Choose a show you want to watch—and turn it off when it is over.

  3. Work with your body’s sleep cycle. Experiment with your bedtime until you know how much sleep you need. You’ll wake up refreshed and you won’t need the snooze button.

  4. Multitask the right way. No time to exercise? Turn a work meeting into a workout by making it a walking meeting instead.

  5. Say “no, thank you.” It’s always OK to turn down something you don’t have to do. Be willing to say no more often.
