Educational Events

The mission of the Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center is to provide education to the health care workforce that will optimize care for older adults. Toward this end, the FLGEC is pleased to sponsor and/or co-sponsor several events each year.

Elder Abuse Prevention Certificate Course

This 10 class course (20 noncredit contact hours) offers a unique opportunity for professionals to learn more about the complex dynamics of elder abuse. Each class is taught by New York State and national experts in the elder abuse field, with whom students will have the opportunity to interact. You may obtain a certificate after completing the full course, or you may choose to take just some of the classes.

Dates

  • Every other Tuesday from 3-5pm between 1/6/26* to 5/12/26.
  • Class will start at 2:30pm on January 6th.

Continuing Education Credits for Licensed NYS Social Workers

  • Licensed social workers in NYS are eligible for 2 CEUs per class. 
  • Lifespan of Greater Rochester is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers # SW-0089.

Cost

  • Full price: $500
  • You may also take specific classes and pay by the number of classes you want to take. Classes are $60 each.
