Before You Begin

  • Confirm that you meet the published program requirements. If you cannot confirm each requirement, please address the specific requirement directly in your application.
  • Review the full program schedule and discuss the time commitment with your supervisor.
  • Identify one primary driver of occupational distress that you want to understand and address.
  • Obtain support from your supervisor/chair/chief.

How Applications Will Be Considered

OWB WBF Program team will consider both the applicant and the proposed focus: leadership and change-readiness, understanding of the driver, evidence and colleague input, realistic scope, and ability to meet commitments. Cohort composition may also be considered to build a group with varied roles, settings, perspectives, and areas of focus.

What Will Make a Strong Application

  • Center the application on a real work-environment condition rather than a general interest in wellness.
  • Explain why one primary driver is the best lens for understanding the need.
  • Use available data, observations, and colleague experience while naming what still needs to be learned.
  • Propose a manageable starting point with potential for meaningful impact or transferable learning.
  • Show willingness to engage affected colleagues and refine the idea rather than defend a predetermined solution.
  • Be candid about barriers, dependencies, resources, and support needs.

Attestation of supervisor/chair/chief endorsement: Supervisor’s name, title, email address

This attestation confirms your supervisor’s awareness of the application; support for the applicant's participation and required time; support for reasonable access to colleagues, data, and local leaders; and willingness to help address barriers when appropriate.

Is there anything about your workload, schedule, access, or support needs that the selection committee should understand?

Sharing a support need will not automatically disqualify an applicant. This information helps the program team assess feasibility and identify accommodations or resources.

Help us understand why this program is the right next step for you.

Why do you want to participate in the Wellbeing Fellowship, and how do you hope to use the experience?

Focus on the leader you want to become and the role you hope to play in your local setting and across the organization - not only on completing a single initiative.

Select the system-level condition at the center of your proposed area of focus.

Select one primary driver. You may also impact other drivers, but your application should be centered on the primary driver so the need remains focused and actionable.
