The Department of Psychiatry Advisory Council of Consumers (DPACC) is dedicated to fostering collaboration among patients, families, community partners, and departmental leaders to enhance the quality of care provided by UR Medicine Mental Health & Wellness and Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness.
Through advocacy, gathering feedback, and championing respectful and dignified treatment, DPACC aims to address gaps in care and enhance patient-centered services that support the health and well-being of all individuals and families served by the department.
DPACC Is
DPACC is comprised of patients, family members, and staff within the Department of Psychiatry. We serve in an advisory capacity to the department. We may also be called to initiate and review quality initiatives across its services. DPACC provides a forum for the department to hear feedback from a consumer perspective. This partnership works toward improving patient-centered care by supporting, advocating for, and ensuring respectful and dignified treatment for all patients and families served by the department.
Eligibility
Any patient, family member, or caregiver who has recently interacted with Department of Psychiatry services and is interested in partnering with the department to provide input on programs and policies.
Member Requirements
Must comply with Strong Memorial Hospital’s volunteer policies and commit to sharing insights in a constructive, thoughtful manner.
- Submit a completed member application.
- Await contact from DPACC Leadership for an interview.
- Complete Training Forms.
- Adhere to the Confidentiality agreement for the duration of time on the Council.
- Maintain decorum and respect for fellow members.

Volunteer Responsibilities
DPACC represents the voice of Psychiatry’s patients and families. The group meets monthly, and members may be asked to:
- Discuss patient and family priorities and concerns
- Help with development of patient programs and materials
- Share ideas for improving care and patient experience
- Serve on internal committees focused on quality and improvement
