Cardiac Surgery Peer Recovery Support Program

Research Question:
Will a recovery support model of care assist patients recovering from addiction during their hospital stay?

Basic Study Information

Purpose:
The purpose of the study is to develop and implement an addiction recovery support program for cardiac surgery patients admitted with a diagnosis of infective endocarditis and IV drug addiction. Patients admitted to Strong Memorial Hospital will be enrolled. We will test whether the recovery support model of care improves a person's readiness to start addiction treatment.
