Telehealth-Enhanced Asthma Care for Home After the Emergency Room
Research Question:
Does an educational intervention called TEACH-ER reduce the need for asthma patients
to visit the emergency room or hospital?
Basic Study Information
Purpose:
Telehealth-Enhanced Asthma Care for Home After the Emergency Room (TEACH-ER) is a
educational intervention that includes: 1) asthma education in the ED, with color-
and shape-coded labels provided for home asthma medications; 2) virtual in-home telemedicine
(Zoom) visits with your PCR, and home delivery of prescribed medications with action
plans described with pictures. Children (ages 3-12 yrs) with asthma who visit the
Golisano Children's Hospital emergency room are eligible. The duration of the study
is 12 months.
