Wilson ECLIPSe Lab
Welcome to the Wilson ECLIPSe Lab
Welcome to the Wilson ECLIPSe (Engineering & Clinical Laboratory for Innovation in Pediatric Surgery) Laboratory. We are a multidisciplinary team focused on addressing complex problems that arise within the complex world of surgery.
Complex systems consist of connected, interdependent, diverse entities that are capable of adapting -- that is, they respond to their local and global environment in some way. The complex and ever-changing nature of clinical pediatric surgery offers the chance to improve the lives of children by taking challenges we experience in the clinical setting into the laboratory environment to help create better solutions.
Our lab addresses a wide array of topics that arise within the fields of biomedical engineering and clinical surgery. Our studies range from using computational techniques designed to support clinical decision-making to studies aimed at modeling both anatomic and functional characteristics of organ systems.
The Wilson ECLIPSe Laboratory is a collaborative lab space where clinicians, engineers, advanced engineering students, general surgery residents, and postdoctoral biomedical engineering (BME) trainees can collaborate on the application of technology to complex problems in pediatric surgery. The long term goal of the lab is to create novel diagnostic, therapeutic, and predictive tools which have the ability to improve the overall health and care for children with surgical conditions.
