Research in Health Equity Symposium

Attendees of the Research in Health Equity Symposium

Building partnerships that address community needs and improve health equity

The Department of Medicine Research in Health Equity Symposium brings together healthcare providers, researchers, trainees, students, staff, community leaders, and community members to exchange ideas and develop sustainable approaches to improving health for all.

Founded at the University of Rochester in 2022 to highlight health equity research across the institution and foster collaboration within and beyond the Department of Medicine, the Symposium has grown into an annual event for sharing research, building community-academic partnerships, strengthening research capacity, and advancing an institutional culture of health equity. Past symposia have included keynote speakers, oral presentations, poster presentations, community panels, workshops, and opportunities for networking and collaboration.

The Symposium continues to evolve in response to participant and community priorities. Recent programming has expanded to include patient and community panels, workshops focused on research methods, and greater outreach and engagement with Rochester communities.
