Trainees
The Department of Medicine at University of Rochester Medicine is committed to fostering interest among trainees interested in careers in medicine and scientific research. To help align trainee interests with available mentors and projects, trainees are encouraged to gather basic information about their background, availability, and research goals before contacting faculty.
Information We Ask From Trainees
- Training level (e.g., undergraduate, graduate student, medical student, resident, fellow)
- Current year in training
- Prior research experience (if any)
- Proposed timeframe and availability for research participation
- Areas of research interest (e.g., basic science, clinical, translational, medical education, or other)
- Skills they hope to develop
- Motivation for seeking a research experience
- Preferred faculty mentor(s), if known
Next Steps
We suggest that trainees email the faculty member of interest and provide the information listed above.
If you do not have a faculty member in mind, we encourage you to reach out to one of our faculty delegates as appropriate to your area of interest. They can help connect you with potential mentors and research opportunities.
