On April 14th, Noyes Hospital honored 100 adult and 2 young adult hospital volunteers along with members of the Noyes Auxiliary, Board of Directors and Foundation Boards, with a reception at the hospital. Noyes Volunteers provide assistance in many areas throughout the hospital, including: Human Resources, OB, E.A.R.S. Lifeline, Physician Services, Gift Shop and Coffee Bar, Chaplain Program, Front Desk, the Exercise Room, Blood Pressure Clinics, Engineering, Dialysis Center in Geneseo, Medical Library, Living Healthy NY Program Leaders, Respite Volunteers, and the “Noyes Welcome Team” who greets visitors and patients, gives directions, and assists with wheelchairs in Patient Registration in Geneseo and Dansville.

The event recognized the Volunteers for the hours of service they donate to the hospital. The reception highlighted the Caregiver Respite Program which, in 2014, 8 volunteers made 161 home visits to 11 area families in order to give the Caregivers the chance to get out and have some time for themselves to do errands and have their own appointments knowing that someone was with their loved ones.

According to Volunteer Coordinator, Nancy Johnsen, “THANK YOU does not do justice for what these individuals do for the hospital. In 2014, the hospital volunteers alone donated 11,627.5 hours!”

Speaking at the event were Amy Pollard, President and CEO and Michael Johnsen, Chairman of the Noyes Health Board of Directors, where 21 volunteers were recognized for accumulating 250+ hours of volunteer time in 2014. In addition, 37 volunteers received the President’s Volunteer Service Award, created in 2003 as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their documented commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.

“The theme this year is ‘Volunteers-An Essential Part of Our Team’ and what a team we have. This is a great group of people to work with and I love their energy, enthusiasm and ideas,” stated Ms. Johnsen.
