How to Apply

Jennifer WestHello everyone!  On behalf of the entire Psychology Training Program I want to extend a warm welcome to our internship and fellowship programs in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center.  We will be conducting Zoom interview days that will include an orientation to the program, interviews with faculty, and time with current trainees to ask questions and learn about their experience. We have also created video 'tours' hosted by trainees for each track of the internship (Adult and Child and Adolescent) and for the fellowship program. We hope that together with the website, these videos will help you decide if our program offers what you are looking for in advanced training.  And, if so, that you will submit an application.  We look forward to hearing from you.    ~Jennifer West, Ph.D.

Thank you for your interest in the Doctoral Internship at the University of Rochester. Our Internship Program is offering 8 full time positions; 4 in our Child and Adolescent track, and 4 in our  Adult Track with 3 slots designated for emphasis in Deaf Wellness, Lazos Fuertes, and Health Psychology. In the event that the emphasis slots are not filled, the position will roll over to the General Adult slot.

INTERNSHIP START DATE:    August 1

We select the most qualified candidates regardless of age, color, disability, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, military/veteran status, national origin, race, religion/creed, sexual orientation or any other status protected by law.

All applicants must be matriculated in an APA Accredited Ph.D. or Psy.D. program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. Applicants must also demonstrate adequate preparation for internship as indicated by their credentials and their graduate training director's endorsement.

External Training Contracts & Evaluations
Some doctoral programs require their students to have additional training contracts and evaluations completed by their internship programs. The University of Rochester; Department of Psychiatry’s Clinical Psychology internship does not enter into training contracts with academic programs, and our supervisors do not complete evaluations developed by other academic programs. As an APA accredited internship, our interns receive comprehensive evaluative feedback throughout the training year using instruments based on APA guidelines and customized to our program. Evaluation summaries are provided to academic programs at the mid-point and end of the training year. If you are enrolled in an academic program that requires additional training contracts and evaluations, you are strongly encouraged to consult with your Director of Clinical Training as to whether or not you are eligible to apply to our program.
