Making the Tools of the Trade

This booklet contains five lab activities that engage students in solving scientific problems faced by real-life researchers who were making a tool to sort cells. Students work through the design process, develop a medium to make the device, and learn why nanoparticles are used in constructing these tools. Each activity comes with teacher notes and student handouts, and uses simple supplies and equipment. Integrates physics and life sciences.
