Office of Biomedical Research Development (BRDO) Unveils MyPath Educational Modules

Monday, November 9, 2020

The Office of Biomedical Research Development ("BRDO") is pleased to announce the launch of their new MyPath educational series titled "BRDO: Path from IP to Commercialization". The series consists of 5 individual modules focused on each step along the path from intellectual property (IP) to commercialization. The following provides a brief description of each module:

1. "Inventions" - An overview of inventorship at the University of Rochester.
2. "Commercialization" - An overview of intellectual property (IP) protection and the development process.
3. "Funding" - An overview of the types of funding available in the research and development process.
4. "Licensing" - An overview of license agreements available in the research and development process.
5. "Startup Companies" - Option to launch a startup company in the research and development process.

The modules are intended for UR researchers and inventors interested in learning about how to commercialize their IP. However, anyone interested in learning about the process is welcome and encouraged to participate. Each module takes about 15 minutes to complete and provides a variety of resources and quizzes to assist in the learning process. The series can be accessed by entering "BRDO" in the MyPath search bar in which "BRDO: Path from IP to Commercialization" should populate below for your selection.

BRDO is always available should anyone have questions or feedback following completion of the MyPath series. To set up a meeting, please contact BRDO at BRDO@URMC.Rochester.edu or call (585) 276-4006, and be sure to check out the newly updated BRDO website for more information.

BRDO would like to thank Sharon Kraynik, the MyPath team, Office of Counsel, URVentures, and the various faculty members that assisted in creating these modules.
