Mary Ma, M.D., Named Highland Hospital Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Mary Ma, M.D., has been appointed as the new Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Highland Hospital.

Dr. Ma has been an Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester Medical Center since 2016. She earned her bachelor's degree in Life Sciences from the University of Toronto and her medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Dr. Ma completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Vermont before joining the faculty at Highland Hospital.

During her time at Highland hospital she has taken on increasing administrative responsibilities, serving as Division Director for Highland Women's Health. In July 2020 she became the Interim Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Highland Hospital.

“The whole Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is so pleased that Dr. Ma will be the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Highland Hospital,” said Eva Pressman, M.D., Henry A. Thiede Professor and Chair of The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. “She is an engaging, collaborative leader with a strong track record as a clinician and teacher. We know we will be able to rely on her skills to build on the strong foundations that already exist.”

Dr. Ma follows Ruth Anne Queenan, M.D., M.B.A, who served as Highland Hospital’s Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology for almost 10 years.
