Shared Governance

Nursing at Highland Hospital

How Shared Governance Works at Highland

Professional nurses at Highland Hospital have a voice, as well as control, authority and influence. That’s because our nurses set goals and priorities – and participate in decisions relevant to nursing practice through our structure of shared governance.

Shared governance provides the needed structure for nurses to share, learn and collaborate; identify and integrate best practices and enjoy a more fulfilling career.

This chart illustrates the interrelationship of the councils at the department and unit levels.

We do this through an interrelated group of policy-making bodies listed below. Read more about the Shared Governance Council Structure at Highland.
