Acute and Adult Psychiatry

The Adult and Acute Division provides ongoing mental health care to patients in crisis and distress. Patient and family-centered care is at the core of what we do. Partnering with patients and their families, our interdisciplinary team utilizes innovative and evidence-based practices to provide effective treatment.

We work to provide patients and families with resources in the community and within other psychiatric service areas. We aim to ensure seamless transitions for our patients as they move through the continuum of services.

Patient Care

We offer a range of clinical services, including:

• Adult Inpatient Units (2-9200, 3-9000, 3-9200)
  • 56 operated beds
  • Five teams, including two resident teaching teams and one Geriatric Psychiatry (Geropsych) team
• Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP)
  • Triage and screening
  • Extended observation beds
  • Mobile Crisis Team
  • Crisis therapy
• Adult Partial Hospitalization Program
  • Intensive treatment (short term) in an ambulatory setting
• Interventional Psychiatry 
  • Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) - Inpatient and outpatient consults.
  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy - treatment for resistant depression.
• Adult Outpatient Services
  • Strong Minds Adult Outpatient Services – counseling, group therapy, and/or medication management for individuals 18 years of age and up
  • Deaf Wellness – counseling and medication management for patients who are deaf or hard-of-hearing
  • Lazos Fuertes – counseling and medication management for patients whose primary language is Spanish
  • Outpatient Psychiatric Consultation Service - assistance for patient’s primary care physician or current prescribing provider.

Education and Training

From educating future mental health professionals to supporting and developing our current staff and clinicians, we are dedicated to the growth of the individuals who work in this field. Trainees from multiple disciplines may rotate through our clinical services as part of their core training, including psychiatry residents and fellows, psychology interns and fellows, and clinical social workers.
