Jacob Gantz, M.D. & Michael Witthaus, M.D. accepting First Place
award for Clinical Research
The University of Rochester is at the forefront of urologic research. Our goal is not only to treat disease, but also to conduct research that leads to the discovery and development of new medical procedures and treatments. Our faculty and residents use a broad investigative approach utilizing both basic and clinical research techniques.
A major focus of our research involves the role of the androgen receptor in malignant and benign diseases of the prostate. Investigative areas range from the origins of metabolic stone disease to molecular carcinogenesis of renal cancer to the origins and clinical care of interstitial cystitis.
The urology research faculty supports numerous peer reviewed extramurally funded research projects with state of the art technology and facilities to study a wide range of basic, translational and clinical research problems.
