Translational Biomedical Science Retreat

Each October, we gather our TBS trainees to attend a keynote speech, career development workshops, and present the impressive projects they have been working on for the past year. This year’s retreat went magnificently, and all of the work the trainees have been putting in truly shows.

We would like to thank our keynote speaker, Dr. Anna M. Stewart Ibarra – Director of the Latin American Research Program in the Center for Global Health & Translational Science at SUNY Upstate Medical University. She presented on the epidemic of Dengue Fever down in Ecuador, and how translational research affects all areas of medicine and public health.

We would also like to thank Dr. Elaine Smolock and Eric Vaughn from the Center for Professional Development; they presented wonderful workshops on scientific writing and effectively marketing oneself as an emerging scientist. These workshops help our trainees prepare themselves for the upcoming challenges of transitioning into the scientific world.  See photos from the first retreat.
