Pediatrics / Research / Cancer Research & Therapies Cancer Research & Therapies Our cancer research includes bedside clinical investigation as well as basic research in the laboratory. We participate in the Children's Oncology Group, an international organization that conducts clinical research aimed at finding new ways to optimize treatment of childhood cancer. Our clinical investigations also include discovery and implementation of methods to improve psychological issues co-morbid with cancer in patients and in their families. Pediatric cancer research in the laboratory includes projects aimed at identifying mechanisms of immune system and leukemia cell interaction as well as mechanisms by which leukemia cells circumvent therapy. In addition, our laboratories are investigating the response of the hematopoietic system to cancer treatment, particularly radiation therapy.
