New Highland Medical Staff Slate of Officers Begin Term

Timothy Lum, M.D., is the new president of the Highland Hospital Medical Staff. He is working closely with other members of the medical staff leadership team, Keely Dwyer-Matzky, M.D., President-Elect, and Roan Glocker M.D., Secretary-Treasurer to support Highland’s medical staff, foster good communication, and build strong relationships. “It’s an honor to represent the physicians who care for patients at Highland,” said Dr. Lum. “Our leadership team is deeply committed to the future of the hospital.”

One of Dr. Lum’s top priorities in his position is to develop and build connections between Highland physicians and primary care providers. “Because of the pandemic we rarely see our colleagues in person anymore,” he said. “You can’t develop the same kind of relationships in Zoom meetings. One of the most important parts of my role will be to encourage face-to-face engagement professionally and socially once we can safely do that again.”

Dr. Lum will also serve as a liaison to hospital leadership and board and is also involved in credentialing. That entails vetting of new physician candidates for staff in coordination with the credentialing committee and the medical staff office. The role extends to assisting current faculty members who have questions or issues with credentialing or practice.

Dr. Lum stresses he is here to serve the medical staff and invites questions, suggestions and ideas. “I am in my 17th year at Highland and am deeply vested in our hospital. I’m honored that I have been elected by my physician peers to represent and advocate for them. I am happy to be part of stewardship and leadership,” he said.
