Edward G. Miner Library serves primarily University of Rochester Medical Center faculty, staff, and students.
Members of the greater-Rochester community and surrounding areas are welcome to use the library's resources for health and wellness information. Librarians can provide assistance in locating appropriate materials. Community members may use library materials within the library, or print or photocopy them (subject to US Copyright Law) using the library's self-service printers and copiers. There is a fee for printing and copying.
Access to electronic resources from remote locations is restricted to current University of Rochester faculty, staff, and students with University of Rochester Net IDs or URMC Active Directory accounts.
PLEASE NOTE: Miner Library staff cannot create Net IDs or Active Directory accounts. If you believe you are eligible for one of these accounts, contact your department administrator. If you are not eligible for one of these accounts, you can use the free version of PubMed for health-related research.
Resources in the Computing Center are restricted to University of Rochester faculty, staff, and students.
You must have a current University of Rochester photo ID, issued by the Department of Public Safety, to borrow materials.
Staff employed by URMC affiliates (Highland Hospital, Thompson Health, Visiting Nurse Service, Highlands at Brighton, Highlands at Pittsford) must obtain a University of Rochester “Friend” ID, issued by the Department of Public Safety.
How to Obtain a “Friend of U of R” ID
• Ask one of our Answer Desk professionals for assistance with completing the Medical Center ID Request Form.
• Go to the Department of Public Safety’s ID Services with the form. There is a fee of $15.
Librarians are available to assist current University of Rochester faculty, staff, and students.
Other customers may use the free version of PubMed for their health-related research or contact their institution’s library (i.e. libraries at Highland, Rochester General, or Unity hospitals).
Current University of Rochester faculty, staff, and students are eligible.(Some fees may apply.)
Other customers can use PubMed’s Loansome Doc service or contact their institution’s library (i.e., libraries at Highland, Rochester General, or Unity hospitals) for assistance.
