How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in the Health Service Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center. We select the most qualified candidates and value the richness of a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Fellowship Start Date:   August 1, 2026

Jennifer WestHello everyone! On behalf of the entire Psychology Training Program I want to extend a warm welcome to our internship and fellowship programs in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center. We will be conducting Zoom interview days that will include an orientation to the program, interviews with faculty, and time with current trainees to ask questions and learn about their experience. We have also created videos hosted by previous trainees and faculty that highlight different aspects of our training program (Adult and Child and Adolescent) and for the fellowship program. We hope that together with the website, these videos will help you decide if our program offers what you are looking for in advanced training.  And, if so, that you will submit an application.  We look forward to hearing from you. ~Jennifer West, Ph.D.

Admission requirements and program information

Requirements of Candidates to be offered a position:
NYS SEL CHECK
All candidates who accept an interview invitation will be asked to complete a form requesting name, social security number, and date of birth during the interviewing season.

“The NYS Justice Center maintains a Vulnerable Persons Central Register (VPCR) that includes a Staff Exclusion List (SEL) containing the names of individuals who have committed serious acts of abuse and are deemed ineligible to work in a position involving regular and substantial contact with a service recipient. Providers must request the Justice Center to conduct a check of the SEL before determining whether to hire or otherwise allow “any person” to have regular and substantial contact with a service recipient. “Any person” can include an employee, administrator, consultant, intern, volunteer, or contractor.”

HR will run these forms through the state’s central register as described below prior to offering or ranking any candidate.

If an applicant is listed on the register, we are precluded from making an offer of a position to that individual. Intern candidates would not be ranked to match, postdoc candidates would no longer be considered for a fellowship position.
