Program Overview

This symposium provides continuing professional education to Ophthalmologists and Allied Health Care Professionals through the region so that they may gain the latest best practices, enabling them to provide better patient care and advance their skills.

The conference is designed so that at its conclusion, participants should be able to:

  1. State at least 4 ways to reduce post-operative visual acuity complications resulting from cataract surgery.
  2. List new pharmaceutical-based and stem cell therapies that are potential agents in the treatment of retinal disease.
  3. Discuss the societal costs of glaucoma screenings and the positive and negative aspects of the practice of glaucoma screening.
  4. Identify major advances in key areas of cutting-edge research and technology in ophthalmology.
  5. Describe the evidence-based approach to managing medical diseases of the cornea and ocular surface, including inflammatory, infectious, and degenerative conditions.
  6. Demonstrate familiarity with current issues in medical and surgery therapy for glaucoma.
  7. Identify and manage glaucoma surgical complications.
  8. List best practices in the treatment of diabetic eye disease and age-related macular degeneration.
