The Office for Faculty Development strives to provide an institutional framework that includes a broad range of activities to help renew and assist faculty in their multiple academic roles. These activities are designed to improve the knowledge and skills essential to their performance as educators, and to assist faculty members in gaining a better understanding of academic career development, mentoring, and leadership.

This workshop will provide an introduction to online learning for instructors. Organization and planning tools will be reviewed to assist faculty in preparing for the design and development of an online course, hybrid online, and web-enhanced courses. Attendees will be guided through the initial steps of development and will leave the workshop with a clear understanding of the foundational structure of their course.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the participant will:

  • Explain the benefits of using a course template
  • Use the Online learning organization and planning tools to help instructors prepare
  • Apply the UR Online Course Template in the development of the initial structure for their course
