Patient Services

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP): EAP is a set of professional services specifically designed to improve and/or maintain the productivity and healthy functioning of individuals in the workplace. It addresses an organization’s business needs through expertise in human behavior and interpersonal relationships.
• Behavioral Health Partners (BHP): BHP is the University of Rochester mental health service available for employees and their dependents (18 and older) who are enrolled in a University Health Care Plan. BHP offers solution-focused, time-limited psychotherapy and medication management for depression and anxiety.
• Family Therapy Services: We provide mental health services for individuals, couples, families, and relational systems of all kinds. Sessions are focused on how mental illness affects families and the role played by family dynamics.
• Heal through Education Advocacy and Law (HEAL) Collaborative: A multidisciplinary service for individuals experiencing interpersonal victimization and violence (IPV),

• Highland Family Medicine Clinic provides care for every member of your family at any stage of life.
• Women’s Behavioral Health: Providing mental health care to women facing a variety of challenges related to reproductive health or relationship issues, including pregnancy, postpartum depression, menopause, chronic vulvar pain and more.
• Primary Care Integration in Safety Net Practices: We support clinicians embedded in several primary care practices and focusing on providing behavioral health services as part of the primary care team. 
• Psychiatric-Oncology: We provide psychiatric evaluations, brief therapeutic interventions, and medication recommendations for patients who receive care at UR Medicine Wilmot Cancer Institute. We also provide support and consultation to inpatient Wilmot teams.
• Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Service (PCLS): PCLS provides psychiatric consultation to patients presenting to the Emergency Departments (EDs) or admitted to inpatient beds at several hospitals. Our services include the following:
  • Inpatient consultation service at Strong Memorial Hospital: Supporting all patients admitted to the hospital and providing psychiatric consultations when requested by their medical or surgical teams. 
  • Proactive Integration of Mental Health Care in Medicine (PRIME): This service involves screening patients early during the admission process and providing early interventions to improve outcomes in the hospital setting.
  • Highland Hospital Consultation Support: This service provides psychiatric oversight and support for inpatient psychiatric consultations at Highland Hospital. 
  • Telehealth Psychiatric Consultation for Rural Hospitals: This service involves providing psychiatric support for several regional hospitals by providing case consultation to providers and psychiatric assessment officers (PAOs) on site as well as telehealth consultations for patients in the emergency departments (EDs) as well as inpatient units.

Education

• Consultation-Liaison (C-L) Psychiatry Fellowship: Consultation-Liaison psychiatry is a subspecialty of psychiatry focused on treating behavioral conditions in patients with medical and surgical problems.
  • C-L Psychiatry is suitable for students who are interested in biopsychosocial care, who want to learn about ethics and palliative care, as well as medical illnesses and psychiatric & psychological issues, and who enjoy collaboration with other clinicians.
• Marriage and Family Therapy Training Program: The Marriage and Family Therapy Training Program is part of the Graduate School at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and is an integral part of the Psychiatry Department’s Institute for the Family. Located within the University of Rochester Medical Center, our program provides students the unique opportunity to learn about mental health and families in a collaborative interdisciplinary context.
• Master of Science Program in Marriage and Family Therapy: Students entering our M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy Program will be exposed to the major family therapy conceptual and clinical models. Clinical training will be with a diverse client population, presenting the full range of individual, couple, and family problems. All students will participate in live family therapy supervision, a team approach in which all families are seen by students under the supportive eye of an Approved Supervisor in marriage and family therapy.
• Post-degree Certificate Program in Medical Family Therapy: The Post-degree Certificate Program in Family Therapy at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry provides training for professionals who already have an advanced degree (such as MS, MD, PhD, PsyD), and are interested in specialty training in family therapy theory and clinical practice. 
• Bush-Francis Catatonia Rating Scale Assessment Resources: We offer comprehensive educational materials on catatonia assessment. These include a detailed Bush-Francis Catatonia Rating Scale Training Manual and Coding Guide, training videos of standardized patients that illustrate how to assess for all items of the Bush-Francis Catatonia Rating Scale, and additional resources.

The Wynne Center for Family Research
The Wynne Center for Family Research is dedicated to studies that help families learn how to cope with the stress of serious illness and loss, improve parent-child relationships, decrease intimate partner violence and improve couple relationships, train physicians and other clinicians in patient-centered, family-oriented healthcare.

Laboratory of Interpersonal Violence and Victimization (LIVV)
The mission of the LIVV is to improve violence prevention and intervention efforts, nationally and internationally, through research, education, and advocacy initiatives.
